Tinuviel! Tinuviel! by woutart Tinuviel! Tinuviel! by woutart
Tinúviel! Tinúviel! Long have you been in the making! Many have gone before and many will be after. But lo! Finally I managed to capture her in colour :D

Had a week off from work and my family and me whent on a mini holiday to a forested area. Took some photographs which then inspired me to make this one.

Photoshop CS5.1, Wacom Intuos3 A5 wide, approx. 9 hrs

Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's Lúthien Tinúviel from the Silmarillion.

*pauses, looks around for Beren*

ehn, guess he's not here. I love your forests, they're just so... I dunno. It's hard to say. Rich? Intricate? Realistic in a surreal way? (and yes, I realize that that is an oxymoron).

Looks fantastic.
(The absolute minor, little, tiny issue would be the skin tone. It looks a bit too red among all the greens in the surrounding to my photographer's eye. )

Danke Oliver :)

Yes you are right. I find good skin tones hard to reproduce. It should be influenced by the surroundings offcourse. Thanks for being honest

Great depiction. It's always nice to see new depictions of Luthien. I really hope the Silmarillion never gets turned into movies or a TV series.

Thank you! I agree, some things are sacred and unfilmable ;)

Well that, and there is the fact that when movies are made out of the books then it is the death of original art because everyone just copies what was in the movies.

True, there's definitely a lack of original views these days, because of that fact. I too find it hard sometimes to remember what I thought everything looked like before the movies came out.
