The Old Wizard's abode by woutart The Old Wizard's abode by woutart
"The trail leads to the great falls. Cross there the rope bridges and find yourself the house where the old wizard abides."

Finally some doodle time again, been so busy with work. In between the painting of 'gnomes and mushrooms' I found time to do this one. It was showing itself to me in numerous thumbnail sketches. Started as a speedy, turned out as a bit more detailed than that.

Wacom & PS CS4, 4-5 hours

Enjoy!

LOL a wizard would be able to use a spell to mute the sound when the place be built, so you'd be okay if it was real!

In real life... I'd rather have the roar of a waterfall than the roar of city life. But if it was real life, i'd be too chicken to cross that final bridge!

I wonder if the old wizard has troubles walking over all those creaky bridges when he goes to the village nearby to buy some food. Or maybe he can fly?

I'm bettin' he can fly! But his grandchildren might not yet be able to, nor his cleaning lady

Nice atmosphere, and at the time executed, "Bravo," I say. It would have taken me three times as long with lesser results! A nod to David here for turning me on to your work! Keep it up, and I'll be back!!

Awesome perspective, and incredible idea. I love how some parts are roughed in while others are super detailed - gives it a real vast gigantic feel! :faint: :)

I think someone mentioned that they'd like more detail in the background, but I think that more detail would take attention away from the amazing perspectives you used here. A lot of people choose to paint magical scenes with sparkles and strange colours, but you convey a sense of awe, power, and (most of all!) natural beauty.

I can tell that you take a lot of care with choosing your brushes and the result is amazing.

I am very glad you enjoyed it. It's true I tend to search long before I decide which brush to use. I don't want it to look very 'brushy', if you catch my drift. But very much like the textures brushes can give.

Excellent piece of work!

I've always been impressed with how quickly people finish art in photoshop. Do you do preliminary drawings before or use as a template?
