This pen drawing was inspired by the books of Bernard Cornwell. A Sword Dane (Danish warrior, aka Viking). Could also be a Saxon, as their dress and weaponry would not differ that much. I did not use any reference as to the correctness of the equipment. I just needed to get this one out of my system.

Pen on double A5 spread, approx. 2,5 hours.

Way ahead of you. THat was my intention when I set out to learn smithing. The only thing on my mind was "I need a bearded axe"

Awesome. How's the skill progressing? Watched some videos on the subject a week ago. Lot of work, especially the eye.

Yeah the eye is a bitch. I was messing around trying to see if I could make it by wrapping it around, like folding it. But my fire isn't hot enough to forge weld :(. So I gotta find a wedge and punch that shit through I think. I had a dream about making a huge bearded axe, so I won't stop practicing until I make it reality

Like a Daneaxe? Punching it through would require some effort I suppose. Would a forge weld be stronger??

You didn't use any references as to the correctness of equipment on this, but the kit is correct to my eyes.

Thanks, mister Cornwell is pretty clear in his descriptions.
