 Iron Hill Dwarf by woutart

Inspired me to go at it. No high fantasy movie related design. More north-west European outfitting, from which Tolkien took his inspiration. This is how I see Middle Earth.

Elven spear man, Iron Hills dwarf according to the books description (except for the hammer/pick which should be a mattock, but this one looks more martial). And a Laketown militia man wearing a gambeson.

Thanks J, for getting me started.  Middle Earth, where I find peace of mind. :)

Step 6

Exciting times

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 17, 2013, 4:26 AM
Hello dear artsy friends,

I was asked by an American writer to produce 16 pencil illustration (B&W) for her fantasy novell, landscapes all. Needless to say I am very excited about this! :happybounce: At the moment we are in the beginning stages of the project, having four concepts approved and the first drawing almost finished.

It is great to return to pencil work (although I miss my colour work right now ;) ). I simply do not have the time next to some other freelance design jobs, a full time day job and a family. Hope I can squeeze in some speedies every once in a while for your and my entertainment.

Anyway, as soon as I have a green light to share the pieces I will ofcourse do so.

Also almost done with my website/blog. Will post link asap.

Enjoy the spring you northern hemishpere people! (and the autumn for you southerners ;) )

Oh, and before I forget. I have a lot of new watchers and just maybe I forgot to thank some of you. So thank you, your support is very much appreciated! :handshake:

Your friend,

Hey woutart, tried sending a message yesterday don't think it sent, I'm not good with computers. Basically I had been trying to locate an artist whose sketch of a girl riding a dragon flying with a castle in the back round underneath. This image and style caught my eye immediately as it was strikingly like depictions (I won't call them sketches or art) I did when i was twenty odd to go with my book. I was hoping to have the artist do some illustration sketches for the book i'm now in the position and means to have published (create space) after the last submission in 2001. I have scrolled through many images and came across your ' Castle on the River' and the style was very similar to the artist's I been looking for. The book is like a saga of poems and prose about events, experiences and acquaintances in my early twenties, there is spiritual, magical and mythical themes running through the book. Would you be interested in helping me finishing my book if you have the time? If so what do you charge or what is the procedure. I apologise if I have contacted the wrong person or offended you. Thank you for your time, let me know if you receive this message. Formally pen named Dragon. Eddie

I just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday!

I notice you’re from the Netherlands!  I’ve always been fascinated with that place’s history

and culture. I stopped there for about an hour when I was on a European tour and I’ve always wished we could have stayed longer! I would love to ride in one of those canals!

I found that a lot of people here in the U.S. don’t know much about their own country, much less anyone else's.  :(

I post prayer updates about different countries. Part of the reason is to raise awareness about what's going on in the rest of the world.

Recently I’ve started my own private initiative; if I notice someone on DA  is from another country, if I've done their country I let them know. It’s my way of letting them know that others are thinking about their home. :)

This update is about your home!…

GOD bless you now and always.
